Dear Friends,
If I were to hazard a guess, I would say that we are heading for a period of great instability and chaos. Not just here at home, but all around the world. It is becoming more and more difficult to find any heartwarming news.
Let’s just let our minds wander around the globe, shall we? Israel is in an existential fight with a barbaric army that rapes and butchers women and children and then retreats to hide in schools and hospitals. Naturally, the other nations around the world condemn Israel for fighting back. Iran funds Hamas and Hezbollah, and that “Death To America” and “Death To Israel” cult is once again ramping up its nuclear refining capabilities—not worrisome at all. Ukraine is in an existential struggle against a brutal invading army and gets reluctant and half-hearted support from the world’s lone hyper-power. In central Africa nations like Niger are overtaken by Muslim extremists who pressure America to withdraw its presence from the region; their plan is to provide a safe haven for terrorist training camps. In Afghanistan, the Taliban has already done just that, thanks to Donald Trump, Joe Biden, and the US of A. Central America is a pipeline for millions of people pouring over the the southern border, many of them unvetted and up to no good. China is increasingly bellicose in the Taiwan Strait and the South China Sea. North Korea has missiles and nukes and proliferates arms all over the world, particularly to enemies of the United States. And not to alarm you more than necessary, but a lot of really knowledgable people are increasingly concerned about things like an EMP attack in our upper atmosphere, for which we have little defense, and which could blow out our entire electrical grid in one fell swoop and sending us back to horses and buggies. But don’t worry: there aren’t any nuclear powers in the world who would want to do anything like that…
And what is the lone hyper-power up to? Among many other things, spending trillions of dollars they do not have and will not have for the foreseeable future—entitlement spending, of course, but also things like $7.5 Billion to install eight electric vehicle chargers. Chump change, of course, but at a billion dollars apiece those things add up. Satisfied with historically lackluster economic growth or at least refusing to do what is necessary to achieve robust growth. Refusing to accept the energy independence God blessed her with. Fighting endless and increasingly hot culture wars over things like “transition” surgeries and hormones for deeply disturbed and confused children, keeping pornography available to kids in school libraries, or whether a placekicker should be kicked off his professional football team for saying an unpopular thing at a commencement ceremony. Trying decide which one of two octogenarian mediocrities should lead the world’s lone hyper-power. Oh, and one of those guys tried to illegally overturn the results of the last election, and the other guy is trying to win by getting his opponent locked up in jail.
Everything is just fine.
