Dear Friends,

It is finally the dog days of summer. The heat has at long last arrived in Montana and tomorrow the youngest and I are going to head up to higher elevations for a couple of days, where hopefully it will be a bit cooler.

As for current events, there are but a few worthy of attention. The war in Gaza is about to get a lot uglier, and Mike Cosper has been covering that over at his Substack. I cannot recommend highly enough that you read this really thoughtful piece.

President Trump is scheduled to meet with Vladimir Putin in Alaska on Saturday, ostensibly to bring about a resolution to the war in Ukraine. I have little confidence in the President’s “deal making” skills, particularly because he lacks the basic moral clarity to even properly identify the aggressor and malefactor in the conflict. But we shall see.

There was something of a brouhaha this week involving our friends in Moscow, Idaho. CNN did a segment on Doug Wilson and the CREC denomination. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth called attention to it because he is a member of the CREC. Controversy was instantly generated because Moscow is usually in the controversy generation business.
