Dear Friends,

I hope you had a lovely Independence Day celebration! We had a terrific barbecue with some friends, enjoying delicious and meaty ribs from The Magnificent Pig. Then we had a fun and eclectic musical jam session that featured some Celtic, bluegrass, a few numbers from The Bailey Band, and even a beautiful Bach piece for solo violin.

In our garage my youngest daughter had found a fairly large cardboard box filled with fireworks left over from years past, so I insisted that all the kids get rid of them for me. As in, blow up every last combustible artifact. I do not want them anymore. They had no trouble at all, but I do recommend not lighting sparklers with an ordinary Bic lighter. I burned my thumb a couple of times. Ouch.

Let’s get to a few things that caught my eye this week, shall we?

The Secret Service is investigating a bag of white powder found in the West Wing of the White House. No, it isn’t Anthrax. It’s cocaine.

Something tells me they won’t have to look very hard for a culprit, because I’m sure Hunter visits his Dad pretty often and he has a history of forgetting important items. Laptop. Child. A half-kilo wouldn’t surprise me.

I’ve said quite a bit about the Supreme Court opinion in the 303 Creative case, but there is hilariously more to say. Major media outlets are reporting that the website designer who refused to do same-sex wedding sites—get this—never even received a legitimate request to make a same-sex wedding website! Aha! Gotcha!
