I came across his very good Poiema newsletter. awhile back. As someone from the South, I really enjoyed his writing and Southern perspective there. After following him on Twitter though I discovered a much darker side. He seemed very “new right” to me in the same mold of extreme populism, radical anti-elitism, and highly race conscious as so many others you’ve so ably described in the Square Inch. In fact he was unabashedly pro-Confederate.
What a shame. Why, oh why, does the Christian ministry seem to appeal so much to frauds? We need to take a hard look at exactly why Christ called us sheep. He wasn't being cutesy, I'm afraid.
Reminds me of Stephen Glass & The New Republic debacle.
The movie about it is good: Shattered Glass.
Amazing anyone would lie about a higher ed degree especially in the modern Internet world... but perhaps it is more amazing he got away with it for so long?
I am heartbroken . . . I can’t like this post, but it is needed. Good work with a difficult task, Dr. Mattson.

Was the story about Keller true? EDIT: I’m realizing that he told this after Keller’s death, so the latter could say nothing

May God grant him repentance.
